December 2015
What a wonderful year we've had so far. One of our most recent events has been to start trialing a fantastic piece of equipment useful for many conditions. The MOTOmed is a machine that can be powered by either arms, legs or both sets of limbs. The clients that have tried it so far have had big smiles on their faces and have thoroughly enjoyed the experience. All clients are able to access a two week free trial at home to see if it suits them. Follow the link to see more of the MOTOmed bike that we have been using at Gloucester House.
We have also been doing some collaborative work on providing joint therapy and care packages to maximise clients independence and improve overall outcomes.
We'd like to wish you all a very merry Christmas and a happy and healthy New Year 2016.
October 2015
We have been working with a local business, a residential Care home called Gloucester House to provide evaluations and new physiotherapy programmes for all the current residents. We are excited to be involved with all the great staff and residents to increase their health and mobility particularly to become less reliant upon hoists. We have also teamed up with Vickey Petrie, a Speech and language therapist to offer an improved all round package to existing and new clients. Elissa recently gave a presentation at a conference on Pain.

Do you like a challenge? I have always enjoyed challenges. For me the sense of achievement and a goal to work towards are both very appealing. Many of my challenges have involved physical activity and several have been achieved as a joint venture with my clients. The latter have ranged from walking 100 m round a park to trekking to the base camp of Everest. They have all been very special moments.
I have just cycled 1050 miles Lands End to John O Groats via Wales the Lake District and The Scottish Island which was amazing with spectacular scenery wildlife and architecture.
Contact me if you want to challenge yourself and we can definitely find the ideal one for you.
Jane.

As promised, here is a link to a video of us in action at The Springbank Clinic. We have regular appointments available so please call to arrange a visit and see how we could help turn your life around. We are also able to visit you in your own home or gym as well as the clinic setting.
July 2015
Coming soon!... We were recently invited to take part in a new video filmed by the
Springbank Clinic. Both Elissa and Jane were involved in the film that showcases the practitioners available at the clinic. Don't forget, you can arrange to have your treatments with us in the clinic.
We have all been very busy during the last month. We have been building ties with some former collegues to form a Multi Disciplinary Team. We are very happy to be working with
Dr Chong a Consultant Neurologist at The National Hospitals for Neurology and Neurosurgery, Queen Square London and Darent Valley Hospital in Kent. Apart from his practise in general neurology, he has a specialist interest in managing patients with Headaches and Chronic Pain especially Neuropathic and Facial Pain. We have been able to refer a number of clients for specialist treatment.
We have also been working with Vickey Petrie a Speech and Language Therapist of www.softlyspoken.co.uk. She is a Highly Specialised Therapist with a great deal of experience. She specialises in the rehabilitation of individuals as they transition from hospital to their homes. Vickey provides a personal and bespoke service. Central to this is a core belief that clinical effectiveness stems from meaningful and tailored rehabilitation packages, not just for individuals but also their families and broader support networks.
June 2015
The Summer is here and we have had the opportunity to attend some fantastic lectures at this years Neurological Rehabilitaion Expoat the Excel centre in London. We were able to gain lots of information about new technologies and treatments that are available to treat a host of neurological conditions. Click here to have a look at our blog post for a more detailed account of what got up to.
We have also attended the 2015 Bridges Symposium, with lectures about empowering patients and using common sense to help self-manage your care once you are back in your home after suffering a Stroke.
Elissa gave a presentation on "Physiotherapy in the Management of Transverse Myelitis" (Click to view presentation) to the southeastern branch of the TM Society last Saturday. The focus was how physiotherapy has a role to play at all stages of the condition as part of an overall management plan. A key message that came out from the questions and discussion afterwards was that people who have had TM need long term management to maximise their on-going potential and quality of life. Regular review with a neurophysiotherapist is a key part of that management.

What a busy month we have had. We have been thrilled to be able to take on more new clients, thanks to our increased capacity now that Zoe is on the team. We also have the option of treating clients at the Springbank clinic in Sevenoaks. This is a great clinic with easy access so please do make an appointment to come along for an assessement.
Aside from her usual busy schedule, Jane was also able to take part in her first Half Iron Man, well done Jane.
